Zeus hops belong to the so-called CTZ hops (Columbus, Tomahawk, Zeus) and are one of the most important hop varieties in the craft beer scene. This variety was developed in the 1980s by the Hop Breeding Company in the USA and is known for its strong bitterness and intense aroma profile. Columbus is versatile as both a bittering and aroma hop and brings an unmistakable depth to beer creations with its spicy, earthy, resinous and citrusy notes.

Columbus has been developed in the 1980s as the demand for hops with a high alpha acid content increased. Originally intended as a bittering hop for the industrial brewing industry, Columbus quickly became an important ingredient in the emerging craft beer movement. Its name is part of the CTZ group (Columbus, Tomahawk, Zeus), as these three varieties are genetically identical but are marketed under different brand names. Today, Columbus is mainly grown in the Yakima Valley in the US state of Washington and is a mainstay in breweries worldwide. Brewers looking for a hop with a high alpha acid content, strong bitterness and a spicy, complex aroma profile will find Columbus hops to be the perfect choice. It gives beers an unmistakable depth and is an indispensable component of intense beer styles.

'Teamaker' can score with a special feature: the bitterness (alpha acid) is very low.

Because of the very low content of bitterness it's especially interesting for usage beside bittering. It can be used for late hopping in brewing or for example in teas or cosmetic articels or all other ideas to which bitterness is disturbing.

'Spalter Spalt'

The variety 'Spalter' is an old local variety from the region around the little town Spalt, southern to Nürnberg.
Similar to 'Tettnanger' or 'Hallertauer' the variety 'Spalter' belongs to the so called "Saazer Formenkreis" which collects all varieties based on the variety 'Saazer'.
'Spalter' is a strong growing an healthy variety, but with low yield.
Because of its fine aroma the 'Spalter' still is in production mainly sold to breweries that appreciate this flavor note.
