'Alberich'

The variety 'Alberich' is characterized by its tamed growth. It is a socalled "dwarf-variety". But dwarf is not compareable to very smal plants by hop. Dwarf means the growth is much slower compared to other hops. Normally hops grows to ~8m high as a solitaire. 'Alberich' only reaches a hight of ~4m. Because of that 'Alberich' is ideal for smaller places like private gardens. Cultivation in containers also is possible.

A new variety from the Hop Research Institute in Hüll with a distinctive note of passionfruit. 'Callista' is described as intensely fruity, harmonous, sweet fruits, apricot, passion fruit, wild berries note. 'Callista' is a descendant of 'Tradition'

'Cascade'

'Cascade' is an us-american aromatic variety, released in 1972.
The origin is 'Fuggle'.

'Cascade' resists infections of downy meldew, is partly tolerant to Verticillium and prone to aphids.
This variety is characterised by low bitterness but also fine aromatic elements.
The content of alpa-acid should be about 3-6%.

Craft breweries love varieties like 'Cascde' because they could give the beer a personal character. The light flavour of Citrus is the reason for counting 'Cascade' to the socalled "flavour-hops".

'Comet'
'Comet'
 
'Comet' was developed as a bittern variety at the "United States Department of Agriculture" (USDA) and registered in 1961.
With its content of 10% alpha - acid was this variety no longer competitive and the cultivation was stopped in the 80ies.
Indeed, 'Comet' has also a flavour which is in line with the current phase of highly sophisticated beers: The smell and also the flavour of the beer is described with pineapple and elderflower.
This variety offers an agronomical feature, too: the umbels are very big and the leaves light green, nearly yellowish.

Crystal hops are an American bred and grown variety that is the daughter of Hallertauer Mittelfrüh. Crystal also has genetics from Cascade and Brewer's Gold, but is used mostly for its noble German character.

'Fuggle' is a very old english aromatic variety. This variety has been found and propagated in Kent since late of 19th century.
In Germany this variety never has gained any importance. But in Austria the variety 'Styrian Golding' seems to be nearly identical.

variety 'Opal'
'Opal'
The speciality of this variety is it's own character of flavour. Using the actual varieties of the development-program from Hüll brewers have the chance to create their own flavourd beers. Beside 'Opal' even 'Smaragd' and 'Saphir' are developed having this idea in mind.
Trying breweries have shown that these varieties are creating very fine beers, no matter wheather you want to brew a typically Pilsner or Lager or spare-hoped american types or Weißbier. These varieties are developed to complete the offer on varieties.

One more step into this direction is the offer of the brand new so called "special Flavor hops".

'Opal' has very good aromatic ingredients beside a high content of alpha-acid. In cultivation the harvest is high on good grounds. The resitance against Verticillium, Peronospora and powdery meldew is good up to very good. The plant grows up zylindric, the quantity of humbles is high and well-formed! The riping time is middle to early.
