'Magnum' is characterized by very strong growth which can be seen in the largest humbles and leaves. At the moment 'Magnum' still is one of the most important and most widely grown variety in the Hallertau.

The variety 'Alberich' is characterized by its tamed growth. It is a socalled "dwarf-variety". But dwarf is not compareable to very smal plants by hop. Dwarf means the growth is much slower compared to other hops. Normally hops grows to ~8m high as a solitaire. 'Alberich' only reaches a hight of ~4m. Because of that 'Alberich' is ideal for smaller places like private gardens. Cultivation in containers also is possible.
